The GTA Rollergirls are Toronto’s first not-for-profit flat track Roller Derby league, formed in the Spring of 2007 by Cynthia Brooks, aka Splat Benatar #27. The Sugar Shakers is an all girl 1920’s and 1930’s solo Charleston Flapper performance group lead by Joanna Kassoulides. The group has performed, competed and entertained in and outside of Toronto at Festivals, Competitions, Private Functions and on stage. You may have seen them at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Taste of the Danforth.
They offer classes in Solo Charleston Choreography as well as Partnered Dance classes from the 1920’s – 1950’s on Monday nights at the Dovercourt House. Visit website

Wyrd S’Stars – Modern Fusion Dance

Wyrd S'Stars are an entertainment dance troupe performing at various events and functions.
Main focus is on American Tribal Style Belly Dance (ATS). It is a fully improvised group dance based on pre choreographed combinations of moves that have been borrowed from African dance, flamenco, world dance and of course belly dance itself. Every performance is always exciting and different.
TyTanya was introduced to belly dance in 2007 and has studied Egyptian style in Korea for 1 year and 1 year at Arabesque Dance Company in Toronto. Tanya then found a style of belly dance, ATS (American Tribal Style), and has studied with Valizan for 3 years, as well as Modern Tribal Fusion with Audra Simmons for 2.5 years. She has taken intensive workshops with world known belly dance artists such as Rachael Brice, Samantha Emanuel, and Heather Stants. TyTanya has been in the field of dance for approx. 20 years. In year 2010 she chose to go to a business class to start her business now known as ‘TyTanya’, providing solo performances and currently supporting the troupe ‘Wyrd S’Stars’.
Equus was introduced to Belly dance in 2008 and has 5 years of belly dance experience that includes studies and performing. She has studied Egyptian style in Cobourg ON at Moksha Belly Dance Studio, Modern Tribal Fusion with Audra Simmons of the Dark Side Studios, ATS with Valizan, and intensive workshops with Samantha Emanuel and Rachel Brice. Equus enjoys the performer life-style and has strived to share her love for dance and entertainment. She is currently part of The Wyrd S'Stars performance dance troupe.
Alexandra Lune grew up with a theatrical family touring with the Moscow theatre since the age of four. Her background has been theatre and folkloric dance growing up. Living 12 years in South Africa has explored different facets of tribal dance and expressive variations and cultures. In Montreal she began dancing Tribal Fusion Belly dance and American Tribal Style. She is currently apart of a the Pandora's Tribe Troupe performing for humanitarian causes as solos and duets with her twin sister Maria and supporting the troupe Wyrd S'Stars. www.Pandorastribe.com show cases some examples of her work and causes.
Maria Soleil is an international theatre performer with influences from her immigrations including USSR, Israel, South Africa and North America. Her dance technique includes folk, gypsy, belly dance, mime and interpretational dance. She performed with Roma Gypsies , African Buskers and circuses. Maria fell in love with the world of Belly Dance and American Tribal Style with classes of Andrea Fryett, Montreal and has worked to develop it with The Darkside Studio, Toronto. Currently she dances solos and group performances with the entertainment Wyrd S’stars Troupe and with Humanitarian Pandora’s Tribe Troupe. She teaches dance to marginalized communities.
